Oh, man; when Liz gets her head on straight, the results can be devastating. Susan shouldn't have said what she did and Liz needed to be the one to tell her. I just hope she doesn't do something stupid like ask for the harmonica back; everyone else has given it up as lost so trying to ungoof herself will look like grandstanding.
Good for Liz, but I'm not entirely sold on her yet. First, she's basing these comments off of stuff she heard secondhand. And secondly, there's a difference between knowing what's right and doing it (and we know how well lecturing about the right thing to do comes to a Patterson).
How different is this from original Liz? It's still just some frames and teaching with a different set of slogans, for this character who is using the natives for her own feel-good pity-pillow so she can sleep at night. I thought in the beginning you were going to draw out some alternate relations, but it every attempt to leave Lynn's planet FOOB just gets drawn back into the orbit of slogans instead of character. How about returning to where you were interested in the beginning? That had some experiment in alternates. This is sort of the same, only more plodding and teachy-feeling.
I disagree strongly with justusethisone. This is a different person who is living with the effects of her actions. I don't think she is using the First Nation, she enjoys the challenges that living where she does presents.
Mm. There is something disturbingly familiar here; we haven't been given any context - and given that Susan's supposed to be much closer to this community than Liz, there has to be some.
What we do have is Liz going out of her way to shrilly lecture someone based on what, for all we know, might have been an offhand comment since bitterly regretted.
It does make sense from a Pattersonian POV...but I do also feel like the storytelling ball got briefly dropped. (Luckily the next strip picked it back up, and themn some.)
