And Now for Something Completely Different

(I've used that post title before, haven't I?)
I played a bit with bucket fills for the silhouetted parts

Springtime for Foobville X

Nothing much to say except that of course Candace would have a pregnancy fashion style all her own. And I do seem to draw in Nanaimo bars where sweets are called for quite a bit, don't I?

Springtime for Foobville IX-beta

These have been little glimpses into spring 2010, but that last one just screams for a followup....This is what I have to work with (reboot doesn't count, nor do online bios, introductions to collections, etc):
  • Connie told Elly that Pete (her "inferiority complex") left her with the house, cats, etc .... and a five-year-old kid, as if Pete were Lawrence's dad.
  • Connie said Pete was her only 'real relationship' (which was why, a year after the divorce, she was having a hard time letting go, was still dyeing her hair red, etc)
  • Liz was told Lawrence's daddy went back to Brazil after the divorce
  • Much later, Lawrence meets Dr Pablo daSilva, who
    • looks very much like him
    • claims he never knew he had a son with Connie
  • Connie backs this up with a story of going home with her secret love-child after a charity trip
This, uh, strings it together plausibly, keeping in mind that people don't always tell the truth (but Lawrence relating the story of meeting his dad is most likely to be telling the full truth about that incident; he has no reason to make it up.)

This still leaves open why Pablo would deny having known about Lawrence (least complicated explanation: Connie and he both don't want to deal with this past complication - Pablo's new family may not take it well and I doubt he's proud of ignoring his first child)

I leave that letter to Dr. Walby to your imagination ... so that's how it happened! Really, I mean it this time, and yes, I finally explained it all to my son - sort of - I agreed with Pablo that it was better if - well, anyhow I'm not looking for a referral, I've already dealt with this... :-)

Springtime for Foobville IX

Yes, Elly should be improving with treatment, but sometimes the snark is just too obvious

Springtime for Foobville VIII

Yeah, you'll have to click to see the text well; the font's not super-big.

Springtime for Foobville VII

I've been having some trouble with gradients in my photos of the pictures. Then I zap some of it if I have time, but it leaves more "fussy" parts a little grey

... and the closest thing I'll get to an "Easter" strip:

Springtime for Foobville VI

Yeah, yeah, I'm just being silly with that whole "stitch & bitch" quilting thing ...

Springtime for Foobville IV

Kids, do not try this at home. And avoid Grave of the Fireflies during stressout times, too. Stick to Totoro, Cardcaptor Sakura and the like :-)

Springtime for Foobville III

If you're wondering why I didn't have time to draw a little bit like this, well, you really don't want to know what my week's been like.

Springtime for Foobville II

As may be obvious from my character designs, I don't buy that insane (with special did daddy kill mommy and bury her in the backyard? flavouring) stepmom backstory...

UPDATE: much dialogue for these bits is ready, haven't had much time to draw. Maybe a weekend update. Drat.
